As l am sitting down to write this, Easter has passed. It was the first Easter in my life that l was not in a church. We had our Easter service via the internet. Thank the good Lord for Zoom. We worshipped, sang, prayed, and was able to interact with each other. We had a wonderful service. This was our fifth Sunday under the “Stay at Home” orders of our state and federal governments. During this time, we can develop feelings of anxiety and depression. Many people do. Remember, God is still God, and He will keep us and protect His children. The people of our county, our state, our nation, and around the world are looking for something to hold to, believe, and trust. The only person that can be trusted, the only one that can be believed, is Jesus Christ and His word. The media, governments, scientists, the entire world, is seeking something to blame. Global warming,
the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and many other theories are used as scapegoats. The Bible teaches the problem is man’s sin. Mankind has come to the point, as it says in Romans chapter one, mankind worships “the creature more than the Creator”. Mankind now accepts sin as normal, calling good evil and evil good. Jesus said it would be just like it was in the days of Noah, every man’s thoughts, desires, and imaginations are on evil. Jesus also said that before He returns there would be “wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes in diverse places and pestilence. They would come on like the birth pains of a woman in labor. They will come faster, last longer, and be stronger as it progresses. COVID-19, l believe, is another pestilence that Jesus said would come. Notice what is happening in the world right now. Along with the virus, there are lost swarms in the Horn of Africa, disease destroying olive and almond trees in Europe, fires that destroyed 30% of the wilderness in Australia, and massive tornados that caused death and destruction here in the US. God is allowing these things to happen to show mankind that He is still on His throne. He loves everyone and wants all to turn from their wicked ways and come to Him. He is a loving God that cares for you. All the death and destruction around us does not cause fear or panic in God’s people. We trust our Lord and see this as an exciting time. Luke 21:28 tells us “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh”. Praise His Name!! We have no need to worry or dread because He told us this would be happening. We are watching scripture unfold before our eyes. Trust God and remember, as the song says, “Jesus is coming soon”!!!
Love in Christ,
Pastor Mike
